I work as a structural engineer for AECOM’s Transportation practice in Piscataway, New Jersey.
When I began as an intern at DMJM Harris during May 2005, I was 250 pounds and out of shape. Every day, I was commuting an hour and a half to Iselin, New Jersey. I challenged myself to get in shape and began my running career on the same day as my professional career. I have since lost 80 pounds and have achieved a string of personal fitness victories including a 5K personal record of 19:50 during the 2008 Race for the Cure and a 3:50:43 finish time at the 2008 Philadelphia Marathon.
Since finishing my graduate studies, I have found myself with spare time, aching to be filled with charitable pursuits. AECOM and the Maasai Wilderness Conservation Trust have given me a great opportunity to give back. This rare and valuable opportunity to shatter two personal records: to raise $5,000 for an amazing charity and to run the ING New York City Marathon is one that I will not let pass me by.
